Actor and Performar
Yazan is a Syrian actor, a graduate of Amsterdam's Drama and Cabaret Academy (ATKA). He has cultivated a remarkable international career, delivering powerful performances that bridge film, theater, and television.In the Netherlands, his breakthrough came with the Oscar-nominated short film "Nothing to Declare" (Hetty de Kruif, 2017). He has since continued to impress in Dutch cinema with roles in "Tail of the Horizon" (Diego Ospina Melo, 2021), "Shower of Haze" (Mustafa Kur 2023), and "Door De Nacht" (Andreea Ilinca 2024).He has showcased his versatility in international projects like the Bulgarian film "The Trail" (2017) and the historical Jordanian feature "From the Mountain" (2019). Demonstrating his comedic talents, he also starred in the television comedy series "With Yazan" (directed by Aamen Alarand, 2014) for Istanbul's Orient TV channelYazan's stage career is defined by a series of commanding lead performances that showcase his dynamic range as an actor. He has consistently taken on principal roles, including the lead in theater show "In de Lift" (2024), the one of the main character in the musical "Kringloop" with Vis a Vis Theater Group (2021-2022), the central role in "Geboortegrond" at Theater de Vest (2022), and the leading part in the production "In Between Time" by IJ Production (2017-2018). His foundational early work also he featured in "What Next" with the Fada Theater Group in 2016. Yazan now (2025) works as a theatermaker with "Sawa Foundation", leading workshops for amateur actors. In this capacity, he guides participants in shaping their personal stories into a powerful, collaborative performance based on their real-life experiences.
Deeply connected to his own journey, he authored and directed the documentary "2023", a personal chronicle of his time in a Dutch asylum seekers' center, funded by the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision (Beeld en Geluid).
A multilingual artist, he is professionally proficient in English and Dutch—the language of his theatrical training—and also speaks his native Arabic, also good in Turkish.
